We are loving this trend of having unplugged weddings. The guests are asked to put away their phones during the ceremony.

San Diego wedding photographer: Be Still Photography and Video | Ernie Padaon | Fiona Padaon What a wonderful wedding we were able to capture last week at the Darlington House with Alex and Rosanna. Everything was gorgeous!
The day started out with hair and makeup by Johanah Convertino and Natasha Poonka. They did such beautiful work!
The Darlington House was an amazing venue and fit Alex and Rosanna perfectly.
We hung the dresses out in the courtyard, but then decided to bring the wedding dress solo in the bridal prep room.
The light from the window was outstanding and showed off the beautiful dress.
Charise Ladwig of Rae Florae was the florist for the event and she has always done amazing work. Here are the gentlemen's boutonnieres.
That little bridal space was just too pretty, so we decided to do a few more bridal portraits in that space. We showed off the amazing veil and the gorgeous dress.
At the Darlington House, we decided to do their first look at the staircase. With Alex waiting, his beautiful bride walked down the stairs to greet him.
Before walking down the aisle, Rosanna read the sweet letter that Alex gave her.
Right before walking down the aisle, mom had a couple of words to share with her daughter.
After the ceremony, we took a little ride down to La Jolla to take a few portraits with Alex and Rosanna. The beach was beautiful!

Alex and Rosanna | Sneak peek on wedding photography at Darlington House
Ernie and Fiona Padaon of Be Still Photography had the honor of capturing the wedding photography for Alex and Rosanna at the Darlington House in La Jolla. What a spectacular day we had with these newlyweds yesterday at the Darlington House in La Jolla. Congratulations to Alex and Rosanna!
Everything was absolutely gorgeous during the day and it was a pleasure to capture their day with them. It was a beautiful day out and both Alex and Rosanna looked stunning. The preparations at the Darlington House was perfect for both of them.
We put together a few sneak peek images from the wedding yesterday. There are some from the prep, during the ceremony and during their portrait session. We wanted to share some of the great photos from the day and will have plenty more to share from their big day very soon.
The window in the bridal room provided such great light that we needed to take advantage of it with Rosanna showing off her beautiful dress.
Here was their first kiss as man and wife! What a great looking bridal party with them.
We went down to the beach for their portrait session and it was spectacular! Just look at the water and the clouds in the air. Everything was picture perfect. There are so many great images that we got from that portrait session and we can't wait to share all of them.

Do you want to be a wedding photographer?
What does it take to be a wedding photographer? There are so many hours that go into it and the least of those hours are behind a camera.
Recently, PetaPixel released an article that read "You sure you want to be a wedding photographer?" I thought the article was brilliant and explained how hard it is to make it in this world.
There are so many hours that go into being a wedding photographer that people do not see. There are so many hours that go unnoticed. I love every part of this job. I love being in that big moment and capturing the best day of someone's life. I will take that responsibility in my hands all day!
It is not a job that everyone can make a living off of. It takes a ton of time to build a brand and to build a reputation. It takes a lot of determination. I admire the rockstar photographers that are out there. They have put in the time and effort to get to that level. We want to get to that level. We will get to that level.
If you are an up and coming photographer that is looking to get into this world, know that the time spent behind the camera is only a small portion of the job. It is the portion of the job that you love the most, but there is so much time spent behind a computer editing, marketing, emailing, budgeting.... The time back there doesn't end.
Then there are the moments of meeting with potential clients, that will turn you down since you are out of their price range. Then there is the nervousness that never seems to go away when you deliver the final product. All the thoughts that run through your mind in hopes that they get what they were hoping for.
Here are the questions that were asked at the end of the article:
- Do you love people, a lot, even the un-lovely ones?
- Do you believe in yourself, even in the face of regular rejection?
- Do you love the process, even if the results don’t come for a long time?
- Do you love to work for no money and long, thankless hours?
- Is accomplishment itself enough compensation for you?
- Are you willing to work 7 years for your ‘overnight’ success?
- Are you willing to pull an all-nighter because you love your clients?
- Are you motivated by your own creativity?
- Is your happiness unshakeable in the face of repeated defeat?
- Do you own a camera and a comfortable pair of shoes?
And if we said YES to all of them, then we MIGHT be the next rock star photographer.
San Diego Engagement Photography | Joe + Andrea | Montgomery Field
San Diego engagement photography with Joe and Andrea at Montgomery Field. We were able to step on the air field with these two to take some amazing photos.
We had a fun engagement session for Joe and Andrea at Montgomery Field. Joe flies a plane and we had access to the field and had an awesome time taking some amazing photos with them. This was definitely a unique opportunity to hold a portrait session with them on the air field.
The skies were perfect for their day and the photos from their session are epic! I don't know how many times we will get the opportunity to shoot at a location like that, but we will always be able to create some magic when we do, especially when we have people like Joe and Andrea to work with. They were so relaxed with the cameras on them and they were a great couple to work with.
We look forward to their wedding later in the year when they get married at the Aerospace Museum. It sounds like another opportunity to make some magic happen.
