Loved being able to capture the elopement with Mary and James in Joshua Tree. They had to make different plans for their wedding day with COVID, but it didn’t stop them from an amazing and intimate wedding at Joshua Tree. Here are a few teasers from their day. We will have more photos soon.

Ernie and Fiona Padaon of Be Still Photography had the honor of capturing the wedding photography for Alex and Rosanna at the Darlington House in La Jolla. What a spectacular day we had with these newlyweds yesterday at the Darlington House in La Jolla. Congratulations to Alex and Rosanna!
Everything was absolutely gorgeous during the day and it was a pleasure to capture their day with them. It was a beautiful day out and both Alex and Rosanna looked stunning. The preparations at the Darlington House was perfect for both of them.
We put together a few sneak peek images from the wedding yesterday. There are some from the prep, during the ceremony and during their portrait session. We wanted to share some of the great photos from the day and will have plenty more to share from their big day very soon.
The window in the bridal room provided such great light that we needed to take advantage of it with Rosanna showing off her beautiful dress.
Here was their first kiss as man and wife! What a great looking bridal party with them.
We went down to the beach for their portrait session and it was spectacular! Just look at the water and the clouds in the air. Everything was picture perfect. There are so many great images that we got from that portrait session and we can't wait to share all of them.

Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful!
The wedding with Chris and Kelly earlier this month was absolutely beautiful. The skies were clear and the day was a little windy, but it made for a perfect wedding day for this amazing couple.
Chris and Kelly got ready at different areas around the La Jolla and Pacific Beach area. Here are some photos of the bride and groom getting ready.
Make up was done by Double Take Makeup Artistry. Hair was done by Carly Bowers.
We did our portrait sessions with the bride and her bridesmaids at the house.
We also wanted to get solo shots of each bridesmaid and groomsmen to create this fun little piece.
The gentleman also did their portrait session outside of their prepping location.
Kelly had a first look with her dad before she met up with Chris and she got him some cuff links as a gift on her wedding day.
Then we went out to Crystal Pier at Pacific Beach to hold their first look. Chris waited out on the pier and Kelly walked out to meet him.
We love being able to witness and capture the intimate moments of a first look. It might be one of our favorite moments.
We did our portrait session with Chris and Kelly right after the first look on the pier and then we went under the pier for a few amazing moments.
We stitched together a few images to make this amazing capture.
After the first look, we went out to St. Brigid for the ceremony.
The reception was also at St. Brigid.
They had this cute little table for the kids during the reception.
They played this shoe game during the reception. You can check out some of the rules to that game right here.
Again, we ended the night with a giant group photo of everyone that joined in on the festivities.

[video_box video_url="https://vimeo.com/155578760"]
We were honored to be a part of the Rooney wedding earlier this month. Jim and Isa are great friends and they asked us to capture their wedding day and we had a lot of fun capturing their intimate wedding that was held at a private residence.
There were so many great details to capture from the day, starting with the mason jars for glasses that they used for their wedding.
The brick wall inside the house was great for a backdrop to hang the wedding dress and the bridesmaid dress.
With Isa's wedding dress and her after party dress, she had two different pairs of shoes for the night.
Blyss Macias (Beauty by Blyss) was the makeup artist and the hair stylist for Isa and she did an incredible job.
We loved the location for the wedding. This is the second wedding that we have done at the residence and it is a great location to host an intimate ceremony and reception.
Jim got ready at a friends house and we pulled all his little items to the side before he got dressed.
The flowers were done by Charise of Rae Florae. She has always done an amazing job with her flowers.
Isa got prepped in the bathroom with her girls and with her maid of honor. The light coming from the window was amazing.
We did a first look down the road at Marian Bear Park and all the ladies had prayer before Isa met up with Jim.
Marian Bear Park and their first look was incredible! We did their portrait session right after the first look.
When Isa returned, she had her first look with her dad.
The ceremony location was beautiful. Loved everything about the house and the ceremony.
Right after the ceremony, we had to take advantage of the amazing light that was in the backyard. We did family portraits right on the hill in the backyard and created a few more portraits with them.
Just one giant group photo with everyone! Congrats to the Rooneys.

Another option to the first look on your wedding
On your wedding day, your photographers will want to know if you would like to have a first look. A first look is when the bride and groom see each other for the first time before the wedding ceremony. It goes against tradition, but it also makes for an amazing moment to capture. It also is great for portraits to get done before the ceremony instead of rushing them within an hour after the ceremony. There are a lot of advantages of having a first look on your wedding day. There are also a ton of reasons why people don't want to have first looks. We understand both sides.
A possible alternative idea to the first look is doing a little prayer or saying some words of encouragement behind a door before the ceremony. That will just give you goosebumps to hear each others voice and to touch hands on your wedding day. You won't be able to see each other, but you could hold hands and say a few words before you walk down the aisle.
It has always been an amazing and emotional moment. The anticipation to see each other for the first time is high and the little hints of his voice or his touch will get you both eager to see each other when the ceremony begins.
The images are also amazing that are captured from that moment. If a first look is not in the cards, then this option could be something that you consider.
Should you have a first look on your wedding?
Have you thought about having a first look on your wedding day? More and more brides have jumped on the idea of having a first look on their wedding day. It is another magical moment to add on the wedding day and photographers love it because they are able to do bride and groom portraits done early.
A first look is when the bride and groom see each other for the first time all dressed up looking fabulous and it would take place before the wedding ceremony. Instead of the tradition first time meeting at the aisle, the two meet each other at a different location.
For our most recent first look, the groom met his bride in her room as she was waiting for him. After all the anticipation, the first moment that they get to meet is amazing.
Check out some of the photos from our recent first look:
There are many different ways that it can be done as well. You can let the photographer set it up or if you have an idea for how you would like to roll out, then you can just let the photographers know how you want it all to play out.
Another version of the first look could also work well with the father of the bride. His baby daughter is getting married and he has as much anticipation in seeing her as well.
First looks bring some amazing moments that you can always cherish and it always looks beautiful in the photos.
Where should you have your engagement session?
As a wedding photographer, we get this question a lot: Where should we have our engagement session?
Our best answer would be that it would be a place that you are comfortable in. A place that you are familiar with.
We usually like to recommend a location in which the couple had their first date or any other location that has some sort of significance for the couple.
San Diego has a number of great locations to do an engagement session. Balboa Park is always a favorite location to take photos. The architecture of the buildings is so amazing and there are a number of different locations in which you could take amazing photos.
Any place that has great architecture, the photos are going to turn out amazing. The Salk Institute in La Jolla is a great spot to take photos as well, but you have to be a little more sneaky about it there. Professional photographers are not allowed to take photos there. So you just
The beach is always another favorite for couples. How can you go wrong out there?
Couples also like to change things up and get more greenery in their photos, so they choose a spot around Miramar Lake or Lake Hodges.
There are a number of great looking places like that is Southern California. Some other places that could make for some amazing photos are in a library or in a movie theater. We have taken photos on Montgomery Air Field.
The locations are endless. Take some time to select the best location that fits you. We could take photos at a Starbucks and feel great about it.
There are definitely some locations that we would love to take photos at though. If you are interested in going out to them, then let us know and we can work out a better deal with you.
Here is our dream list at the moment:
San Juan Capistrano Mission Inside of a library Inside of a hangar
We also are interested in doing more theme type photography. At the moment we want to do a shoot that incorporates Star Wars in the engagement shoot.
Follow our facebook page to see the latest themed worked we are looking to do is. We usually will offer to do those shoots for a very discounted rate.
What awesome and unique locations can you think of for an engagement shoot?

What a tease! I even teased myself. Did he start crying?
We started working on the video that we captured over the weekend and we are excited to share the whole thing when it is all complete! It is going to be epic. We should have the whole highlight reel ready soon.
We are going to drop this little teaser on facebook and Instagram for all the Fam to wet their appetite.
There is a 2nd kiss at a wedding?
Everyone knows about the first kiss at the wedding. Every photographer waits for that moment when they kiss as husband and wife for the very first time. That is the moment that everyone sees and it is in front of everyone.
Does anyone remember the second kiss? The second kiss usually happens after the bride and groom procession out from the reception and after they believe that they are away from the rest of the world, they give that second kiss. The "I can't believe it" kiss or the "we made it" kiss.
It really is an awesome moment and it happens almost every single time at a wedding and it is something that we are always looking for. Sometimes it makes for a better moment than the actual first kiss.
Here is one from the wedding over the weekend that I 2nd shot for Cary Pennington. You can see after they had walked away from the reception, they met for a quick quiet moment at the church door.
Our job as photographers is to capture moments. This is a moment that we like to capture from every wedding. As the guests are cheering and grabbing their stuff to head to the reception, the bride and groom are sharing a nice little moment away from the chaos.

San Diego Wedding Photography: Be Still Photog | Ernie Padaon | Fiona Padaon We had the pleasure of capturing a gorgeous wedding at the San Diego Air & Space museum. Joe and Andrea are an amazing couple and everything was planned out beautifully for the wedding day. The venue was gorgeous and unique. It took place at the San Diego Air & Space museum in Balboa Park. It is not everyday that we see a bride and groom getting married under a helicopter.
Balboa Park has so many beautiful locations to photograph and we were able to capture our portrait sessions with some of the great architecture that is around there.
Everything on the day was picture perfect. We had such a great time with both Joe and Andrea on their day. They are an amazing couple and they made are job easy.
Here is just a quick look in at their wedding photos from the day:

San Diego Wedding Photography | Joe and Tristanne
San Diego Wedding Photography: Be Still Photography | Ernie Padaon | Fiona Padaon We had the pleasure to capture the day for Joe and Tristanne's wedding a couple of weeks ago. The ceremony took place at Sunset Cliffs and the setting was beautiful. The skies were clear and both of them looked amazing.
Both Joe and Tristanne got ready at separate locations, but they wanted to meet up beforehand to pray and for us to capture that moment for them. We found a nice little spot where they could pray for each other before the wedding, but not see each other.
Joe then hustled down to the ceremony location to make sure that everything was set up right. He also surprised Tristanne with a limo ride down to the site. The location was fantastic!
The parties then went back to the house to celebrate with all their friends.
These two are an amazing couple and they are so much fun to be around. We were happy to be able to capture their day for them.

San Diego Wedding Videography | Slideshow on the same day
San Diego Wedding Videography: Be Still Photog | Ernie Padaon | Fiona Padaon Over the weekend we filmed a wedding at the Thursday Club at Sunset Cliffs for Edgar and Holly. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and we will have their highlight video to share on here very soon. For a lot of our weddings and shoots we like to have one goal when we walk up to the job. For this wedding, we wanted to be able to put out a little sneak into the wedding video for all of the people in the wedding to see.
We weren't looking for a "same day edit" that had audio and all. It was more of a slideshow of videos for the day. We do the same thing for our photography work and wanted to be able to incorporate it in for our videography. We know that the impact and the power that it has for the clients and for marketing our own work.
We knew that the wedding would be a little rough since we didn't have a lot of time to put it all together. We dropped it all in during dinner and shared it on an ipad for everyone to see at the dessert table.
IT WAS A SUCCESS. The maid of honor asked how we were able to get that done so quickly. The bride LOVED it and couldn't believe that she was watching her own wedding, while she was still at the wedding.
We are going to continue this madness and eventually jump into the world of a SAME DAY EDIT.
The ultimate snack bar for the kids at your wedding
If you are planning a wedding right now, then you can see one of the great ideas by one of our recent brides. She had an amazing snack bar.
We were shooters for a wedding recently and it had one sweet snack bar that you should consider for your wedding! This thing is perfect! It had all kinds of treats for everyone to get to. 4 tables full of snacks all over that was ready to be taken at any time during the reception.. I loved it and the guests loved it . You could tell since it was almost bare by the end of the night.
This table was filled with Rice Krispies treats, candies, some healthy trail mix and so much more. I am sure that the kids were back there over and over again to take some of the sweets off of that table. If you have a wedding that will have a few kids running around, this is something to consider.
I remember going to weddings as a kid and thinking that the food was terrible. If there were some snacks laid out like this, then I would have been in heaven!
If you are looking to add some sweets out for people to pick up throughout the night, this is something that you should consider. If there are going to be a lot of kids, then definitely set something like this up.
Check out more photos from that little snack bar.
